FAQ

Which languages does Telelingua handle?
With its international structure and vast global network of mother-tongue translators, Telelingua can handle any language combination.

What's the general profile of your translators?
All of our translators are experienced professionals who translate exclusively into their mother tongue and only in their specialist areas. They have studied, and live and work in the target language country and have at least 3 years' experience.

Do you take into account previous translations?
Yes, for larger or more technically complex projects, Telelingua uses translation memory software to retrieve repeated elements from previous translations. These tools allow for shorter lead-times and ensure that translations are consistent and of the highest quality.

How do you ensure that sector- or company-specific terminology is used?
Telelingua has developed an integrated management tool for each customer's specific terminology. The software identifies the relevant terms and imports them into the text before it is sent to the translator. Our Quality Control department also compiles terminology lists specific to your company, in all of the languages required for your projects.

Do you provide sworn translations?
Yes, Telelingua works with sworn translators who stamp and sign official documents. We can also take care of legalisation.

What are your lead-times?
On average, our translators work at a rate of 2,500 words per day from the point at which they start work. Of course, this rate is higher if we are working with a translation memory (see first question).

Can the translated documents retain the original page layout?
Yes, Telelingua has all of the necessary desktop publishing software (Indesign, QuarkXpress, etc.) for both PC and Mac, to retain your page layout and file formats.

Can you carry out interpreting assignments?
Yes, one of our subsidiaries provides both simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services. We can also provide the appropriate equipment, both for the interpreters and the audience.

Do you have offices in other countries?
The Telelingua group has offices in Belgium, China, France, Germany and the United States. The group currently has 9 subsidiaries.

Do you use a web communication portal?
Yes, if the type of project justifies it, we set up a customisable Microsoft SharePoint communication platform that can be used to keep track of project progress, store files, transmit style sheets, etc.
This secure web portal centralises all of the information and makes it available 24/7 to the different people involved in the project. It also helps to speed up and facilitate communication, preventing repetitive emails and lost information or files.

Do you have quality certification?
Quality has always been one of our central concerns, and we are in the process of obtaining ISO certification (ISO 9001:2008). Telelingua also became a Certified SAP Translation Partner in 2006.

Do you translate web sites?
Telelingua has all the tools necessary to translate web sites (XML or HTML).
We ensure that the integrity of links and page layout is maintained. Our role is to provide a directly operational site in all its language versions. Practically speaking, you send us an .html or .xml file and Telelingua returns the translation ready to go on-line. The structure (links, tags) is completely intact.

What elements must I provide for the translation to be an accurate reflection of the source file?
If the source document is sent to us in a particular format, it is helpful if you also provide us with the fonts to be used, the source images, etc. You should also specify the software version and whether you use PC or Mac. With this information, we will be able to deliver the translation laid out in its original format.

Do you also offer your customers printing services?
Yes, Telelingua can act as an intermediary with a printer and take on the management of your printed products. Telelingua calls on a number of partners depending on the type of document.

Are your translators evaluated regularly?
Our Quality Control department reviews translations on a daily basis and has developed a translator evaluation sheet.
The information obtained is centralised and is used to monitor the quality and quantity of our translators’ services and validate their performance over time.
As part of the evaluation, we also check that our translators are keeping abreast of developments in their specialist areas.

What are your prices?
The price of a translation depends on the language combination, the file format, the subject matter and, if applicable, the repetition rate. Ask us for a quotation.

What types of subject can you translate?
We select translators who specialise in your area, in accordance with the type of text - technical, legal, editorial, marketing, human resources, financial, medical, etc.

Where are you placed on the translation market?
Telelingua is one of the top 30 suppliers of translation and localisation services in the world.

How long have you been operating in the sector?
