Why do our clients entrust the typesetting of their documents to Telelingua? It is because we know that, for instance, German texts expand by 20% in relation to English texts, because we know that hyphenation rules are not the same in English as in French, because we can vector Arabic or Hebrew text, and also because we respect our clients’ mock-ups, graphs and parameters (fonts, colors, etc.). In short, it is because our work does not stop at the word, or even the sentence, but goes right across the entire document.
Our objective is to deliver high-quality translations ready for use, which, above all, conform to the format and mock-ups of the original documents. Telelingua brings together the translation and DTP checks in all language versions, so there is no tedious copy-pasting for the client to do in all the different language versions. This results in substantial savings in time and money.
Tools and platforms
Our internal and external model-making teams work on both Macintosh and PC platforms.
The following are some tools with which we work daily: InDesign®, QuarkXPress®, FrameMaker®, PageMaker®, Illustrator®, Photoshop®, Interleaf®, CorelDraw®, Ventura® and Microsoft Office, to which tools for software and support systems can be added, such as Visual Basic, C++, Java, ASP, HTML, XML, RoboHelp, etc.
Naturally, these model-making teams are linked with the quality control teams who verify that each of the translated pages has been correctly adapted in the models. This is why we can guarantee that the target text perfectly respects the same layout as the source text.
Asian languages, Cyrillic languages, right-to-left languages: Chinese (traditional and simplified), Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Arabic, Hebrew, Russian, etc.; these languages need particular expertise and software appropriate for their typographic particularities. In this area too, our experience and our technical resources allow us to deliver translations in all publishing formats, ready for use. Control files in PDF format are also supplied.
For projects that include a validation phase in different local subsidiaries, we can also suggest particular formats for use between the translation phase and the DTP phase, in order to facilitate the revision work of client validators. Again, this preparatory work that we undertake promotes the homogeneity of corrections and quality, and it leads to substantial time and cost savings for the client.
